WEN is Now: A Women’s Empowerment Network
Join us for our May 31st WEN is Now “Power Posture: Strong Aligned Bodies for Increased Productivity” presented by Alessa Caridi.
Proper posture isn’t just about being proper anymore. It’s about protecting your body to live a healthy life, live life to its fullest, and age gracefully.
How much do you know about the wonderful machine you spend every second of your life in?
Your body was designed to have a certain alignment with built in curves and shock absorbers. Functioning within this alignment your body is at its strongest, most Jōbu. When the alignment is altered it affects your everyday functions, and productivity levels in your workplace can suffer.
Objectives for this month’s presentation include:
Proper alignment of your body while seated and standing
Reducing the risk of injury and illness with proper motion
Organization of your personal work space to protect your body
Workouts from where you work! (No need to change your clothing—we even do the workout in heels!)
Alessa Caridi is a certified Pilates instructor, artist, dance technician, and functional fitness speaker. She has a passion for perfecting her healthy self, fully understanding the wonderful machine that is the human body, and passing along her knowledge to her clients. Alessa’s passions were ignited during her time at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she studied anatomy and performing arts and obtained her B.A. in World Arts and Cultures, Dance Concentration.
Alessa has lived and danced on 3 continents. From her time abroad, she’s witnessed how other cultures care for their citizens’ mental health. But, her 3 years in Japan, showed her the care and emphases the Japanese put on their physical health. After years of seeing the daily Japanese practice called Radio Taiso ( ラジオ体操) , she knew it had to come to the states. Alessa translated the Japanese practice for the American working professional and the JōbuFIT program was born.
Alessa has seen the effects JōbuFIT has had on working professionals. Now, she strives to share her tips for perfecting your properly aligned Jōbu-body, increasing workplace productivity, and reducing the risks of injury and illness with anyone who will listen. Best of all she will demonstrate how all types of people can get in short effective workouts no need to sweat it out or change your clothes!
Again, Alessa’s words to live by: proper posture isn’t just about being proper anymore. It’s about protecting your body to live a healthy life, to live life to its fullest, and to age gracefully.
