Volunteers come from all walks of life but they have one thing in common: the desire to help others. At YWCA Bergen County, a volunteer’s time can go a long way towards helping children, teens and adults in our community.
We offer a variety of opportunities for volunteers to get involved with us as we work to provide the community with programs that empower women and girls and eliminate racism. The following are just a few of the areas where individuals and companies can donate their time and talents.
Special Needs Swim
The YWCA is always in need of volunteers to assist with our swimming programs for mentally and physically challenged youngsters. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old and no previous experience is required. This is a perfect community service opportunity for students and Scouts. Call Heather Seeback, at 201-444-5600 ext. 327 or Linda Doller, at 201-444-5600 ext. 348.
Join a planning committee or volunteer to work at one of the YWCA’s special events! We host numerous events throughout the year including women’s and girls empowerment conferences, fundraisers, and community awareness events. healingSPACE: A Sexual Violence Resource Center
healingSPACE at YWCA Bergen County (formerly the Rape Crisis Center) holds trainings throughout the year for dedicated female and male volunteers who are interested in being advocates or assisting with outreach, fundraising, or special events. Call 201-881-1751 for details.
