Since working in the field of sexual violence can be challenging, we realize that this type of volunteering may not be for everyone. Therefore, prospective volunteers must complete a mandatory 48-hour training held over the course of approximately eight weeks. The training equips all individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to work directly or indirectly with survivors and their loved ones, as well as conducting other work in the office or out in the community. All advocates are provided with ongoing supervision, training, and support and are expected to participate in the Statewide Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate certification process.
Individuals interested in volunteering with the Center must complete a screening process that includes completing an application with a resume and references and an in-person interview. Prior to considering participating in the application process, individuals must:
