ywhealth & fitness: therapeutic aquatics & aqua therapy
All classes listed below are available for online registration.
therapeutic aquatics
Therapeutic aquatics
provide adults with rehabilitation, recreation and instruction. Physicians recommend water activities for the treatment of a variety of medical and surgical conditions. Water’s buoyancy reduces stress to the weight bearing joints and provides resistance to strengthen muscles, increase flexibility and improve circulation. Our facilities are handicapped accessible. Programs operate out of both pools. (Habernickel is kept at an average of 85° Grannon at an average of 83°)
Physician’s approval on YWCA medical forms required.
aquatherapy
Water movement for adults with orthopedic and/or neurological conditions. Class includes cardiovascular strengthening and flexibility exercises to increase range of motion. Taught by Adapted Aquatics Specialists, this is a great class to continue supervised exercises following the conclusion of physical therapy and/or if your body can’t tolerate the joint stress of water aerobics.
