How long has TWIN been in existence?
The first annual TWIN Awards Dinner was held on April 11, 1975. How are the honorees selected?
Companies nominate a female employee who has made a significant contribution in a managerial, executive or professional role. Companies and their subsidiaries are allowed between one and three nominations (based on sponsorship level).
All applications are reviewed by the Nominee Review Committee, composed of industry members, previous TWIN honorees and YWCA representatives.
The women are not competing against one other. What geographic area does TWIN cover?
Honorees are selected from Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Passaic Counties in NJ and Rockland County in NY.
What does TWIN do?
TWIN honors outstanding businesswomen for their achievements and recognizes sponsoring companies at an annual spring awards banquet.
TWIN sponsors the TWIN Alumnae Association (TAA), an organization for TWIN honorees that provides networking and volunteer opportunities. TAA presents the annual Corporate Recognition award to a company demonstrating its commitment to diversity and has policies and practices in place that support women within their organization. In addition, TAA selects and presents the Evelyn Atwater Scholarship to a deserving female student at Ramapo College each spring.
