April 20, 2018—In observance of April’s National YWCA Stand Against Racism (#StandAgainstRacism), YWCA Bergen County hosts its annual Racial Justice Awards to honor trailblazers who make a difference in our community, working to eliminate racism and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people. The 2018 Racial Justice Awards—the fifth annual—will take place on Tuesday, April 24, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hackensack Performing Arts Center, 102 State Street, Hackensack, NJ (ywca_rjawards18.eventbrite.com).
The 2018 Racial Justice Award honorees are: Al Stawsky, Chairperson, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Palisades (UUCP) Racial and Social Justice Team; We the People, Non-profit founded by Bergen County Freeholder Tracy Zur; Maryann Woods-Murphy, Gifted & Talented Specialist, Nutley, NJ Public Schools and Co-chair of Teens Talk About Racism; and Andre D. Perrin, Eponymous founder and sole owner of Bespoke, formerly of Cut Creations.
